The Gimli Factor and other tales

Dear Family,

Sorry I don't have pics this week... I'm working on it.
Oh man that mice story is hilarious Mom! I literally thought as I read it that it was weird that dad saw 50 mice I was thinking "ummm.wow that's a problem...., Oh never mind it was a joke" HAHAHA.
Our Bedbug pest problem has been dealt with for the first treatment, and thought the problem is better, it's not quite over with yet everything is still dying haha. next week or so they will finish the treatment.

This week I had an interesting experience in our ward correlation meeting, the meeting usually gets a little out of hand but this week it went into a toilet flush of the topic at hand. As people in the room were talking on things that were not at all what the Lord would have us be talking about at that moment, I looked at all the other missionaries with their fists to their heads and zoned out on different parts of the room. The spirit finally couldn't allow me to waste anymore of its time, I raised my hand and asked if we could have that conversation continue after the meeting and to get back on track....wait did I just say that? and so everyone looking at me paused and agreed to continue at the task at hand. after the meeting the person starting that discussion apologized and gave me McDonalds coupons, man blessings! Testimony built that our time is not our own it is the Lords time use it wisely!

This week has been super spiritual, we had a great lesson with a less active member of 3 years (Blanka) and her non member husband (Joe). We taught them about the sacrament and sabbath day which was the topic of our District meeting that same day so it was meant to be! Any who, we testified to them of the importance of the sacrament as we shared with them the sacrament prayer in Moroni 4-5 and went line by line deconstructing what is going on. How great is it that as we are baptized we can be 1- forgiven of sins in the future, 2- can become greater disciples Jesus Christ, 3- as we live according to the commandments and diligence to the covenants we agreed to we may have an abundance of the Lords spirit always to be with us. They felt the desire to come partake in that gift for them....but unfortunately they missed out at church ahhhh no.

All the missionaries were treated in long awaited opportunity to see Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the 12 apostles last Saturday. His spirit was overwhelming in the room, I love feeling that energy as an apostle enters the room, it has been since the MTC when I saw Elder Russel M. Nelson. But this time it was with less people and closer seats, it was amazing. He spoke to us to become true full time missionaries as we are meant to be, and related us to a pen. A pen requires a cartridge in order to write, also it needs a vessel to hold it and it needs to write when the writer wants it to or else it ends up in the trash. In comparison we as members of the church (not just missionaries) have received bodies and voices to carry the gospel (cartridge) to the ears and hearts of the people we meet. Now we need to be able to speak to every word the Lord wishes to write on peoples hearts, or else he will get another instrument for the job (working pens are the best pens to write with haha).   *When we saw Dallin H Oaks yes we shook his hand and I got a pat on the back and he said "thanks for all you are doing" it was super cool!!!

Elder Morby and I have been trying out new ways to find new investigators besides just contacting buses and subways, so we created 2 different challenges
1) Lord of the Rings challenge- every time we get a good contact we count one point and after the end of the week the winner gets treated to a Tim Hortons doughnut. But we only go if we contact at least 100 people that week.
And even if we contact and invite someone to a baptismal date " that still only counts as one! -Gimli"

2)The Book of Mormon Challenge- we contact with a book in hand and use it to teach testify and give to people on the street. This one is a little hard due to Torontonians being a very go go go people. Still very fun!

Well everyone I love you and so greatful to hear that dad and the boys were able to go to the Temple! Love to hear more about it.
Elder Muirhead

P.S.
To the Boys: I get new experiences each day teaching my companion and he teaches me so much I love it. He is like my little guinea pig and I test new things on him on the streets. So glad you boys got to have that experience at the temple on the weekend. I love you kids so much just to remind you!
Love Dyl

Josh you are the man. Thank you so much for the love you share for me, and the Work of the Lord. If I could have you here I would show you the ropes of being a missionary. Hugs back I love you, continue on the things you need to accomplish at the moment.
Proud of you little man
